Why?
Well, because I thought it would be fun. I’ve been meaning to get into it for a while, because I used to enjoy drawing, but never found a subject matter that kept me interested. So, I gathered together a few sites, and had a go.
I popped down to the local Supermarket, and picked up a cheap pad and a simple pencil set, nothing too fancy, just a set of HB pencils. Handily, a few years ago, my Auntie Barbera taught me to draw by looking at things. I’ve found that that means that I’m quite good at copying things.
Here are a few links that I have so far found, and have been useful:

Cabelnet Mange Drawing Tutorial
I’ve managed to do a few that I’ve copied, so I’ll post them (when I’ve got them scanned in). There are a few tips that I would leave for others that are interested in taking up Manga Drawing.
1. Eyes are important. Take note of the “light Shine” affect. It does make a difference!
2. Hair! the reason it’s the first thing these sites want to teach you is that it’s what frames the face, and stops it looking odd.
3. Take note: Nose and mouth are virtuall not necessary. They are simple lines. The eyes and hair say it all.
4. The SHAPE of the face makes the difference. It makes a WORLD of difference. The simple circle & triangle shape is the easiest (YMMV).
More as I learn!
