For those following the poetry on this blog, they will know that I’m trying to do more editing to my poetry. So, I thought I’d show a full working on a poem I’m currently working on. This is unfinished, and I’m not sure I’m happy with the result, but here they are.
Frozen Rose. Ver 0. – 19 June 2014
The unexpected frost froze the rose,
perfectly preserved in summer bloom,
the crustal-ice it’s winter’s crown.
Frozen solid in mid-summer,
blushed and beauty-full,
The rose shone it’s terminal show.
The petals brushed with fingered-ice,
it’s flower frozen closed,
it’s offering of new-life ended,
this summer-frozen rose.
It’s beauty would melt,
with returned rising sun,
melting away its’ gentle bloom,
in the warmth of it’s love,
Frozen Rose ver 1.
The winter came, and held the rose,
A beauty all of it’s own,
captured from summers pageant,
the summer-frozen rose,
winter covered it in it’s own beauty,
with it’s crystal-ice crown,
and held it perfectly preserved,
the summer-frozen rose,
It’s deep read petals adorned,
with gentle dusting white,
frigid death in gentle touch,
the summer-frozen rose,
Yet short was winter’s hold,
upon it’s newfound treasure,
Warming, rose the vengeful sun,
the summer-frozen rose,
In it’s haste to prove it’s worth,
melted the sun the ice preserve,
and washed away it’s singular beauty,
the summer-frozen rose.
The winter railed at vengeful sun,
and slide once again to darkness,
but always will it remember,
the summer-frozen rose.

The Summer-Frozen rose (ver 3)
Winter came, captured rose,
Captive beauty from summer’s pageant.
Adorned in crystal crown,
held perfectly preserved
Deep red petals, dressed in dusting gentle white,
frigid death in gentle dress.
Yet short winters hold,
In haste rose vengeful sun,
melted precious ice-preserve,
destroying singular beauty,
Winter railed at vengeful sun,
Slid again to cool darkness,
But always will remember,
The summer-frozen rose.
