Pope Fails on Excorsism

It has been much in the news this past few weeks, that the pope has decided to create “Excorcism Squads”. These “squads” are meant to hunt out the “Evil” influence in the world. The above link is a link to the pope failing to excorsise a young girl.

During the Excorsism, the pope is mocked by the demon, saying that “not even the head of the church can drive him out.” I think this would probably point as to why the pope is so willing to force the idea of these “Excorsism Squads”.

There are a few things that worry me about this missive. The idea that “not all excorsists follow the rituals”, and that the pope himself failed to drive a demon out. Let me take each of these as items.

1. Not following all the Rituals : This is an odd one. Yes, technically, as Pratchet says, the paraphanelia is not necessary, but there are times when the paraphanalia will give you a needed boost, especially with something as powerful as this demon, if the theories are to be followed.
2. the pope not being able to excorcise a demon: as the head of the church, he should be able to drive out even the most powerful demons. The one that rebells against the pope is really pretty damn powerful, or the pope is missing something.

I think I might go and see if I can unearth the excorcism ritual.
